Basics of Concrete|Aggregate
The term "aggregate" denotes a wide range of granular materials that may be used
in the production of concrete, such as:
These are basically divided into two categories: Fine Aggregate and Coarse Aggregate
based upon their particle size.
Fine Aggregates consist of particles smaller than 1/4", usually sand or crushed stone
Coarse Aggregates are those with particle sizes larger than 1/4"
Aggregates make up 60% to 80% of the concrete volume

Overview: Surface-applied cementitious or admix waterproofing material for concrete
Product Description: Penetron is a surface-applied, integral crystalline waterproofing
material, which waterproofs and protects concrete in-depth.
It consists of Portland cement, specially treated quartz sand and a compound of active
chemicals. Penetron has no added solvents minimising net VOC emissions.
When product is applied onto a concrete surface, the active chemicals combine with
the free lime and moisture present in the capillary tracts of the concrete to form
an insoluble, crystalline structure.
These crystals fill the pores and minor shrinkage cracks in the concrete to prevent
any further water ingress (even under pressure). The concrete dries out but remains
vapour permeable, preventing the growth of toxic mould in enclosed spaces.
It can also seal cracks of up to 1/64’’ (0.4mm) rather than masking or bridging them.
It also protects the concrete against seawater, wastewater, aggressive ground water
and many other aggressive chemical solutions.
Penetron is approved for use in contact with potable water and is therefore suitable
for use in water storage tanks, reservoirs and water treatment plants.
